Piantaferro Primitivo, 2019

Primitivo, also known as Zinfandel, is a natural sponge-like grape, jam-packed with flavour after soaking up the Sicilian sunshine. The immediate aroma is sweet, with upfront fruit dark berries, raisins, black cherry and red liquorice. It is very round with aromas and flavours of chocolate and anise. Soft sweet tannins add to its lushness.

Vinicola Tombacco
Located in Trebaseleghe, a small rural town close to Padua, Venice and Treviso, Vinicola Tombacco is set just in the heart of DOC and IGT regions. Tombacco Winery has been working actively in the wine market since the beginning of the twentieth-century. It was born simply as a farm and was qualified just for the production of various fruits. Since the very beginning, the motivation has been their love for the earth and tradition. In 1919, encouraged by the many results, the company decided to direct its efforts to include the wine market so it started with the planting of vineyards and the production of its own wine. Once established Vinicola Tombacco took a more commercial course under brothers Cristian and Andrea Tombacco and has recently implemented its own sophisticated bottling and research plant to continue to meet its customers requirements.

This is the icon of legendary Claymore wines portfolio. You will never view a Shiraz in the same way.

This is a wine of elegance, finely structured and delicately balanced. Big juicy fruits are balanced by savoury, spicy elements in the mouth. Lusciously rich plums, blackberries and liquorice are wrapped in gently charry oak brought into line with crisp acidity.

    COLOUR AND NOSE

The colour of cherry red. This wine shows aromas of coffee and vanilla bean, violets, glacé fruits and cherries.

    PALATE

Flavours of plum, chocolate, and blackberry are immediate in the first sip. This Shiraz shows clean minerality from the limestone sub soils and rich earthy characters through the middle palate offering intense concentration of fruit with soft velvety tannin to complete this wine.

    CELLARING POTENTIAL

Given satisfactory cellaring conditions, it is expected this wine will drink particularly well at 6 to 8 years of age.

Claymore, ‘Dark Side of the Moon’, Shiraz 2014

    Add to cart
    £16.95

Made with selected parcels of estate grown fruit from Claymore’s Watervale and Penwortham vineyards, the 2014 Dark Side of the Moon Shiraz proves again the exceptional quality of their low yielding non-irrigated vines.

Maturation on oak barrels complements juicy dark berry fruit in this full flavoured wine – rich and generous with a soft, lingering finish. You are invited to explore the ‘dark side’ – now or after 6+ years in the cellar.

    Suitable for vegans!
