Cantina il Passo, “Alberi in Piano”, Aglianico del Vulture DOC, 2013£29.50
The origin of the family-run farm dates back to the end of the 19th century, which was also known as “Contrada Alberi in Piano”, with many hectares of land near Rapolla, a small village in the province of Potenza, located in Lucania at the slopes of Vulture.
The Aglianico of Vulture has very remote origins, and people thinks it has been brought by the Greeks in the south of Italy between the VII and the VI century B.C. One of the historical and literary evidences of the history of this wine variety is the one left by Quintus Horatius Flaccus, a Latin poet who was born in Venosa, who exalted the beauty of his land (Basilicata) and of its wine.
Intense ruby red with violet hues.
Ripe red fruit, note of tobacco, cocoa and vanilla.
This is a big wine and we recommend decanting. It's received 18 months in French oak barrels and a further 6 months in the bottle. Bramble fruit with sweet spices present tannin that has soften with age.

You‘ll Never Walk Alone is perhaps the most famous song in football, and is heard before kick-off at every Liverpool match at Anfield and has been adopted as the Football Club’s anthem.
Claymore Wines is the official partner of Liverpool Football Club in Australia and have created their YNWA series of wines, inspired by Liverpool Football Club.
This is Clare Valley's interpretation of the classic Southern Rhone blend, a luscious GSM that greets the drinker with savoury earthy aromas and floral redcurrant fruit followed by hints of blackberry and gentle spice.
This wine has been constructed with an eye to taking the best of the individual components and working them together into a complementary blend – consideration always to how these components come together to contribute structure and complexity to the finished wine.
The resultant blend is plush and juicy possessing elegant, mouth coating tannins. The mid palate is full of succulent, plump fruit with more earthy/mocha flavours on the finish.
Unfiltered for maximum intensity and matured in 100% older oak for 10 months, this is an immediately approachable drop. Layered, balanced and with surprising length, it just keeps giving – made to be enjoyed with friends and family.
Five Geese “Jon’s Block” Reserve Shiraz 2012£34.95
Sue Trott and her son Jonathon Trott (and hence the name of this beauty) are both behind this complex Shiraz. In short, expect a long and intense palate with lovely spice and pepper, elegant oak and fine tannins
Attractive dark and dense crimson.
Very lifted and perfumed, spicy, almost nutty fruit/ oak complexity. A touch of that peaty character which is so typical of the old vines in Block 9.
Soft, rich, flavoursome palate with lovely spice and pepper complexity lingering. Not sweet, more savoury and elegant in style. A great follow on from the 2010 Reserve Shiraz. This is an impressive example of old vine Blewitt Springs Shiraz.
24 months in first and second year French oak hogsheads.
Five Geese “Volpacchiotto” Rosé 2017£16.95
Sue Trott's five geese live in the dam at the bottom of the garden experience fluctuating numbers thanks to their intrepid predator, Mr. Fox. Forgivingly, Sue names her latest release, a Nero d'Avola rose after Volpacchiotto, meaning fox cub in Italian.
Pretty, bright crimson pink
Fresh, bright red fruits and spice with a little of the typical Nero d’ Avola quince character coming through.
Lovely crisp flavoursome palate with good texture and acidity and a long dry, savoury finish lingering with rhubarb and quince.

From the very good 2012 vintage. Full-flavoured, full-bodied, rich fruit flavours in the middle and those distinctive Cabernet tannins providing a long and definitive finish.

There is nothing quite like the thrill of seeing the unexpected triumph over the norm – no less spectacular than watching a man in a jumpsuit leap 19 cars on a Harley and stick the landing. What could easily be seen as no more than a publicity stunt is actually a true and death-defying leap into the unknown. It’s not as crazy as you may think, or maybe it is. Either way, it works.

Hugh Hamilton, ‘The Oddball’ Saperavi 2015£46.00
Hugh Hamilton is the 5th generation of a large wine dynasty and is regarded as the black sheep of the family.
His daughter and 6th generation of the family, Mary, continues the legacy making Hugh Hamilton Australia’s oldest wine family.
The genesis of Saperavi came about from Hugh's connection with Georgian winemaker Lado Uzunashvili. He waxed lyrical about his country's great red grape and despite its absolute rarity in Australia at the time, Hugh decided to give it a go! 13 vintages later, Hugh Hamilton continues to lead the Australian charge with this exotic Georgian grape.
Brilliant blacks and purples
Rose oil and black tar and floral blossom
Punchy cherry fruit, thyme, tobacco and cedar. Chewy tannins keep fruit generously in check. Lingering notes of fenugreek seeds and maple syrup.
Sapervai is a very food friendly grape due to its natural high acidity. Traditional Georgian food has a plethora of flavours and spices and Saperavi can keep up. Personally we like The Oddball with a good charred steak or slow cooked lamb shoulder.
Le Argille Cabernet di Cabernet 2014£32.00
Cement dipped bottle, wax cap and leather label: we had never seen a bottle like it until we found this truly remarkable Le Argille Cabernet Di Cabernet. Originating from Treviso, Italy, in vineyards surrounded by the river Sile, this strong, serious and unique wine is aged in concrete barrels for two years. This method allows the the winemakers to produce an immaculate wine free from oak interference, so that the flavour comes entirely from the grapes themselves. Its uniqueness is fully preserved along with its warm, refined, and mature taste.
Appearance and Nose
If you can lift the bottle (it really is heavy!), on the pour you’ll release an intense ruby red liquid with garnet highlights. Stick your nose in and you are greeted by a warm, complex, enveloping aroma, with perfume of mature berries especially blueberry, blackberry and wild strawberries. Then a second wave hits you with hints of plum, black cherries and vanilla. But wait.. it still hasn’t finished, now we’re getting light nuances of tobacco, dark chocolate and green pepper.
It is everything it promises with a warm, elegant, mature, complex and important mouthfeel that reveals soft berries, glorious spicing and just gorgeous supple tannins. The long ageing in cement has preserved all the exquisite particular flavours of the grapes that crescendos to a spectacular mouth warming long finish that demands you take another sip.
Well the good news is it is incredibly versatile and food friendly. It’s excellent with strong meats like game and venison and will pair up wonderfully with meaty stews and hard cheeses.
