Leigh Gilligan is a 20-year marketing veteran that has worked with many of the best wineries in McLaren Vale. He and his family own 5.6 hectares of vines in the Vale: 4 hectares of Shiraz, and 0.4 each of Grenache, Mourvedre, Marsanne and Roussanne.
In 2001, Leigh persuaded next-door neighbour Drew Noon, who also happens to hold the coveted Master of Wine title and is an acclaimed Australian winemaker, to make a barrel of Shiraz which they drank and gave away. What happened next, Leigh realised he had to make more wine!
Today, Gilligan wines represent a passion for sustainable viticultural practices and traditional winemaking techniques. Estate grown fruit, open fermentation, basket pressing and oak maturation produces superb wines which have earned high praise since the first release in 2002, from wine critics and consumers throughout the world.
